The ARIA Awards will be held on Thursday, November 26 at Acer Arena.
The ARIA Awards is an all-ages event and tickets are available to both the general public and the industry.
The ARIA Awards recognise excellence and innovation across all genres of Australian music. On 2 March 1987, the inaugural ARIA Awards took place at Sydney's Sheraton Wentworth Hotel in front of 500 industry guests. Twenty-three years later, the ARIAs are held in front of 3,000 industry guests, 6,000 members of the general public, and watched by a peak viewing audience of 1.5 million people via a live television broadcast.
The ARIA Awards is the culmination of a series of events that also includes the ARIA Hall of Fame event which was held on August 27 and the 2009 ARIA Fine Arts & Artisan Awards which will be held prior to main event, date and venue to be advised (check the Latest News for updates).
There are 28 award categories - 26 are peer-voted by a voting panel consisting of over 1,000 industry members. Two awards (Highest Selling Album and Highest Selling Single) are based on audited sales results. The Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Awards are awarded at the discretion of the ARIA Board.
The ARIA Awards and its associated events are produced by Mark Pope Music on behalf of ARIA.
