Highest Selling Single and Album nominees announced 28.10.07

The final five nominees in the Highest Selling Single and Highest Selling Album categories were announced today. They are based on both digital and retail sales for the first time in ARIA history, reflecting the significant changes in the music industry in recent years.

Announced live on Video Hits' ARIA Awards special this morning, you can see why these hotly contested categories are so close you couldn’t pick it if you tried!

In the Highest Selling Single category, Idol ingenue Damien Leith is nominated for his debut single Night of My Life, joined on the nomination blocks by inaugural Idol-er Shannon Noll in a duet with ex-Neighbours crossover, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, for Don't Give Up.

Rounding up the big single sellers are the sublime Silverchair with Straight Lines, Wolfmother with Joker and The Thief, and Australian music mademoiselle Missy Higgins with Steer.

Notching their total nomination nods up two points, Missy Higgins, Silverchair and Damien Leith also come out smiling with a Highest Selling Album nomination each for their respective albums On a Clear Night, Young Modern and The Winner's Journey.

No strangers to Highest Selling Album nominations, Human Nature find themselves unhampered by the inclusion of online sales with a nod for Dancing In The Streets, and comedy cult figure The 12th Man collects his second 2007 ARIA Award nomination for his album Boned.

The winners in these two categories will be announced during Network Ten's Red Carpet Special to be broadcast at 7.00pm tonight.
